CFB at Taiwan paper plant

Yuen Foong Yu Paper Manufacturing Co., Ltd (YFY) is to install a circulating fluidized-bed (CFB) steam generator at its Chiutang Mill in Kaoshiung, Taiwan.

The on-site 50 MWe CFB steam generator is designed to burn bituminous coal as well as tires and sludge and is to be supplied by a subsidiary of Foster Wheeler Ltd's Global Power Group.

Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2009 with commercial operation scheduled for 2011.

'The ability to burn alternative fuels that would otherwise go to landfills was paramount in their decision', said Byron Roth, chief executive officer of Foster Wheeler Power Group Asia.
