Gas turbine for Stora Enso

Tognum's Onsite Energy & Components unit is to supply gas-fired turbine CHP plant to the Stora Enso Sachsen GmbH paper company.

Based on an LM 2500 RD gas turbine, the plant - in Eilenburg, Germany - will cost around €10 million and will be supplied by MTU Onsite Energy works.
With a maximum output of 34.5 MWe and an efficiency of better than 38% in fully condensing operation, in CHP operation the facility has a total efficiency of
85%.

The facility will supply the Stora Enso plant with energy to process waste paper and produce recycled newsprint. The new cogeneration plant will replace the energy plant currently in use is to be installed in the existing building.

The installation is due to be completed by the end of 2009, within a period of less than five months, and was a key criterion for Stora Enso, which will have to purchase energy for the entire production facility externally at a significantly higher cost during the changeover.
