RES acquires solar thermal business

Renewable Energy Systems Limited (RES) has boosted its on-site power systems capabilities with the acquisition of solar thermal company Future Heating Ltd.

This deal, which follows RES's acquisition last year of similar stakes in three UK renewable energy companies Wood Energy, EarthEnergy and PV Systems, forms part of its strategy to offer a comprehensive service to the growing market in renewable energy technologies for buildings.

The Future Heating acquisition means that, alongside its established wind energy business, RES can now offer a full range of biomass, ground source heating and cooling, solar PV and solar thermal to customers looking for on-site low-carbon heat and power generation.

Mark Candlish, RES director responsible for on-site renewables, said; 'Future Heating has the knowledge and skills to successfully deliver solar thermal installations for large-scale projects.'
