Coal mine methane piped to engine gensets in China

Unlike the typical coal mine methane power plant built at a the mine site, for this project, owned by Shanxi Yang Quan Coal Industry (Group) Co, the methane is extracted from the active mine and delivered via pumps, storage tanks and pipelines over a distance of several kilometres to the company's Shentangzui Power Plant in the city of Yang Quan, Shanxi Province – one of the leading coal producing regions in China.

German packaged CHP manufacturer Sokratherm is celebrating the installation of its largest cogeneration project to date – four units, together producing produce 2.2 MW of heat and 1.6 MW of electricity – at a hospital in Haldensleben.
