New turbines to add 400 MW capacity to Texas cogeneration plant

The facility, which went on-line in phases between 2003 and 2004, comprises four gas combustion turbines and one steam turbine. Calpine currently supplies high-pressure steam to an industrial customer and sells the electricity generated to its customers in the deregulated Texas market.

Fuel savings are achieved through the REGEN's ability to harness the power generated during the lifting operations and use it during the crane's peak lifting cycles.
