WINGAS sells biomethane business to EON Bioerdgas

German gas distribution company WINGAS has sold its biomethane business to E.ON Bioerdgas.

The move is part of the reorganization and integration into GAZPROM of WINGAS, which will see it now focus on its core business of selling conventional natural gas.
Founded in 1993, the company is active in natural gas trading across Europe in Belgium, Austria, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Its customers include municipal utilities, regional gas suppliers, industrial firms and power plants.

It has been supplying biomethane since 2010 and last year it delivered around 300 GWh of the gas to its customers.

The Federal Cartel Office approved the sale of the biomethane business to Essen-based E.ON Bioerdgas last month and the sale was completed last week.
