A consortium led by Noell-KRC Energie und Umwelttechnik is to undertake a contract for the planning of the removal of the fuel containing material (FCM) in the shelter of unit 4 of the Chernobyl power plant. The work will involve characterisation of the FCM, a removal and waste management strategy and removal technology development.
