Japan's utility companies used 4.36 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas last month, a 23 per cent rise from a year earlier, reflecting the shortfall in nuclear power following the Fukishima disaster.
Japan`s Overseas Economic Corporation Fund is providing nearly $0.9bn in loans to Malaysia, about half of which will go toward improving electricity and water supply in the country. The Port Dickson Power Rehabilitation Project is receiving $419m which will see the Port Dickson power station replaced with a more stable combined cycle power plant.
ABB Carbon has announced that the 360 MW Karita P800 pressurized fluid bed combustion (PFBC) plant has entered its commissioning phase. It is the world`s first large-scale commercial PFBC plant. Cold commissioning has been completed and the plant`s coal crushers and paste pumps have been tested. Customer acceptance is scheduled for July 2000.
