Energy group Fortum has asked the newly appointed government to clarify its stance on nuclear power. The company said that it welcomed the government`s statement that it was open to many options for Finland`s future, but that it needs a clearer sign on whether it supports the construction of a new nuclear reactor.
Enso Publication Papers Oy has awarded a §24m ($26.6m) turnkey contract to Alstom for the supply of a cogeneration plant to the Anjalankoski paper mill. A Frame 6FA gas turbine, rated at 70 MW, will burn natural gas at the site. The plant will enter operation in December 2000.
The Finnish government has approved a new national Energy and Climate Strategy, which aims to use combined heat and power among a series of other measures aimed at meeting the countries domestic and EU climate targets by 2030.
