Sulzer and Kato Engineering agree to generator maintenance service deal

Minnesota-based generator maker Kato Engineering has signed a service deal with Sulzer for work on locations in the U.S. and Australia.

Swiss-based Sulzer will provide aftermarket services on Kato brand generators. This includes six service locations in the U.S. and seven in Australia.

 “Kato Engineering is actively looking to expand our service network to ensure strong global coverage and service support strategically located close to our product in the field,” Corey Hansen, senior manager of the aftermarket business for Kato and Leroy-Somer brand products, said in a statement. “This Authorized Service Agreement with Sulzer has provided the opportunity to partner with an established company that has hands-on experience with our products.  This Agreement will be complimentary to our Aftermarket Parts, Remanufacture, and Field Service capabilities that we have internally operating out of our three North American facilities.”

Sulzer can offer repair and maintenance service to customers for turbines, compressors, pumps, motors and gearboxes. Kato has a large installed base of products within the oil and gas, commercial and industrial, power generation, data center, rail and mining industries.

Founded in 1926, Kato Engineering is now part of Nidec and manufactures Kato Engineering branded electric generators / alternators, energy storage products and specialty electric motors in its facility in North Mankato, Minnesota.
