Czech turbine manufacturer Doosan Skoda Power is further expanding its presence in the Middle East, more specifically in the Kingdom of Jordan.

The Pilsen-based company has won a contract for supplying a new turbine for the Hussein gas-fired power station.

Doosan Skoda Power will supply a 183 MW turbine set for the purposes of expansion of the combined cycle Hussein Thermal Power Station (also known as Zarqa plant). It is located about 30 kilometres from the nation’s capital, Amman. After the expansion, the Hussein Thermal Power Station will produce additional 485 MW.

Chinese company SEPCOIII is the direct contractor and EPC supplier of Doosan Skoda Power for this project.

Another 135 MW steam turbine designed and manufactured by Doosan Skoda Power has been successfully operating in the Al Qatrana combined cycle power plant since 2011, and it served as an excellent reference in the competition for this new contract.
