Brazil wind power reaches record high

Brazilian wind energy capacity broke its existing capacity records in 2012.

Local daily Valor Economico stated this week that statistics provided by Brazil‘s wind power generation association Abeeolica shows that recently-built modern wind farms produced around 50 per cent of their installed capacity last year.

The country’s mean wind power generation last year stood at 56.26 average MW (MWa), while Peak production of 771 MWa was registered in October.

In 2012, the country’s installed wind capacity jumped to 2,507.7 MW from 1,430.5 MW in 2011.
