Chile’s National Energy Commission has confirmed that the country could generate 1.5 GW from photovoltaics in the next 15 years.
Energías Renovables said that during the period 2015-2028 13 solar projects will be developed.
In 2014, several solar farms, such as Crucero Solar I will be working and will add 100 MW to the electric power system.
While in 2015, Arica I (50 MW) and Crucero Solar II (100 MW) will become operational as well.
And in the middle of the next decade, more ambitious projects, including Solar Sing I and II (200 MW each) are expected to be up and running.
