Scottish hotel CHP unit

The Westin Hotel Turnberry in Ayshire, Scotland, which is to be site of the 2009 British Open golf tournament, has installed a series of on-site CHP units which provide the prime power for running the complex and the heat for all the water used for laundry, pools and rooms.

The units also reduced the hotel’s carbon footprint, enabling the company to go ahead with their expansion plans without increasing carbon emissions.

Installed by I Power Energy Systems, the technology comes from Scorpion Power, a joint venture partner with I Power that adapts cogeneration products for the UK and European markets. It is responsible for the four ENI 70 units, natural gas-fired engines, installed at the Turnberry Hotel location and using Bowman exhaust gas heat exchangers.
