US industrial gases company the Linde Group is pioneering the transportation of waste biogases to fuel on-site generation plants at four locations in San Diego, California, US. The company is to install four fuel cell-based power plants at customer locations in the San Diego area which will utilize purified biogas produced at the Point Loma Wastewater Treatment Plant as the primary fuel source. FuelCell Energy will supply three 1.2 MW plants and one 300 kW plant to Linde.
