CHP a ‘front runner’ in the race to reduce carbon emissions in Europe

And, unlike other low carbon technologies recently highlighted by the Commission, CHP has no outstanding deployment or technology issues to overcome, adds the Europe-wide trade and lobbying association for cogeneration.

Leaders of the ‘G8’ countries are to be presented next summer with a report detailing exactly which policies have been effective in promoting the development of CHP and district heating and cooling (DHC) around the world, and which should bring positive results in the future. Some 70 representatives from the CHP/DHC industry, trade associations and government departments around the world met in Paris last week as part of a research and reporting exercise under the International Agency’s (IEA’s) ‘International CHP/DHC Collaborative.’
