Sugar cane for biomass cogen plant for Brazil

The São João thermo-electric power plant, with an installed capacity of 70 MW, will be constructed in partnership with Dedini Açucar e Álcool, a local agro-industrial group, which will use 47 MW of electricity and the steam produced by the plant. Tractebel Energia, SUEZ Energy International’s Brazilian generation company, will have a 63% stake in the project, the remainder being held by Dedini Açucar e Álcool. The project will begin operations in 2010.

Alstom has won a contract to provide equipment for a 220 MW combined cycle cogeneration plant in Skopje, Macedonia. The contract was awarded to a consortium of Alstom and GAMA Power Systems of Turkey for €136 million, €48 million of which is for Alstom equipment.
