Phase II of Europe’s carbon trading scheme ‘should favour CHP’

The impact of the ETS, the crown jewel of the European policy response to climate change, has been limited to date, says Delta, but its role will increase in both scope and impact in the next few years. This is a potentially promising sign for short- and medium-term market development of CHP plants covered by the scheme (those with thermal input exceeding 20 MW, equivalent to a 7 MWe plant with electrical efficiency of 35%).

Energy services company Dalkia is to build and operate the Southwest district heating network in Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang province in north-east China, following its acquisition of a majority interest in YangGuang.
