Biomass plant saves jobs in Canada’s forest industry

Wood waste from the sawmill, along with material gathered from local forestry companies, will be used to generate steam and 45.5 MW of electricity for the mill. Some 350,000 tonnes of dry biomass, or 700,000 tonnes of wet product, is required to produce the steam and electricity annually.

Germany’s largest low-energy building, the product of the refurbishment of a double high-rise apartment block built in 1974 in the former East Berlin, includes an 18 kW cogeneration plant, according to a report from COGENchallenge, the European information campaign on small-scale cogeneration.
