‘Negawatt’ demand response for California

EnerNOC’s Negawatt Network will help SCE alleviate grid constraints and mitigate blackout risk, says the company. Under the agreement, it will aggregate load curtailment from commercial, institutional and industrial customer sites within 30 minutes. EnerNOC will monitor and control demand-response resources from its 24/7/365 Network Operations Center. The SCE agreement is subject to approval by the California Public Utilities Commission.

US-based cookware company Meyer Corporation has opened a large solar-electric power system on the roof of its headquarters in Solano County, California. The 580 kW system — designed, developed and deployed by PowerLight Corporation — should reduce the company’s utility power consumption by more than 60%, says PowerLight.
