Germany installs 170 MW of wind

More than 170 MW of new wind energy generating capacity was installed in Germany in the first half of 1996, according to Muenster University`s Wind Energy Research Group data. The preliminary data shows 171.25 MW installed. With the 1,126.9 MW installed at the close of 1995, Germany`s cumulative installed wind capacity reached nearly 1,300 MW, second only to the US. The new capacity included 325 turbines.

Pace of wind installations was down slightly from 1995 in Germany, with the slowdown attributed to permitting delays.
