Tenneco, CPC form alliance
Tenneco Energy and Chinese Petroleum Corp. (CPC) have formed a strategic alliance to identify and jointly pursue energy infrastructure projects, including a power generation plant in northern Taiwan. Under the agreement, the two firms will work together to develop natural gas transmission facilities, power generation plants, and other related energy ventures–starting with projects in Taiwan and North America.
The first joint project is a 600-MW natural gas-fired power plant near Taipei. The companies have filed an application with Taiwan`s Ministry of Economic Affairs to build the facility, which is expected to begin operation in June 1998.
