Iberdrola Ingenieria y Construccion’s Mexican subsidiary has completed the construction of a 109 km transmission line between Yesca and Ixtlahuacan in the state of Jalisco.

The EUR55m project, authorized by the Federal Commission of Electricity in Mexico (CFE), also included the construction of two large substations, plus a smaller transmission line between Ixtlahuacan and Aguascalientes, El Economista reports.

The new infrastructure will be used to transmit the electricity generated by La Yesca hydroelectric dam, which will be one of the largest in the country once it becomes operational this year. It is envisaged that this will contribution 750 MW to the electrical system power, or 15 per cent of Jalisco’s annual consumption.
