Chinese firm invests $500m in Iranian coal power project

An as yet un-named Chinese company has invested $500m in the development of a coal fired power plant in Tabas, central Iran, the Iranian deputy energy minister has announced.

Mehr news agency quoted Mohammad Behzad as saying that the power project will have a 650 MW capacity.

The project is scheduled to be completed within 74 months, he said, adding that the administration planned to roll out 5 GW of coal-fired projects across the country.
