Australian energy company HRL is taking its fight to build a new power station to a tribunal this week as it faces increasing opposition from environmental groups.

HRL wants to build a 600 MW coal gas and natural gas power station at Latrobe Valley in Victoria but two groups, Environment Victoria and Doctors for the Environment, are challenging the plans on the grounds of air pollution.

The Victoria Civil and Administrative Tribunal is set to last for four to five weeks.
